WWE Raw: Dominic Mysterio Defeats AJ Styles With The Help of El Grande Americano Again

Ashish Negi

AJ Styles just could not get past Dominic Mysterio and get his hands on the WWE Intercontinental Champion. Dominic Mysterio has now defeated AJ Styles twice in as many matches, thanks to the outside interruption from El Grande Americano. With this victory, Dominic Mysterio now has a successful title reign of 133 days since WrestleMania 41.

Even without the interruption from El Grande Americano, Dominic Mysterio was able to dominate AJ Styles most of the match. It is worth noting that Dominic Mysterio was dominating AJ Styles all by himself, as Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of Judgment Day were banned from the ringside during the match.

AJ Styles, however, utilized his in-ring experience and delivered a Styles Clash. He rolled Dominic Mysterio to secure the pin, and overdid it, due to which the latter’s feet touched the rope. He then went for the Phenomenal Forearm, but El Grande Americano headbutted him on his chest. Dominic Mysterio capitalized and delivered a Frog Splash to pin AJ Styles and won the match.

AJ Styles So Close Yet So Far From The WWE Intercontinental Title

AJ Styles was so close to winning the WWE Intercontinental title tonight, but fell short in the closing moments of the game. He had to wait for his first match against Dominic Mysterio as the latter was unfit to compete. AJ Styles faced the same fate as tonight at SummerSlam when El Grande Americano attacked him for the first time to give an undue advantage to Dominic Mysterio.

AJ Styles might request another match against Dominic Mysterio, as the latter is still not able to score a clear victory over him. AJ Styles, however, needs to isolate him first, which means either get rid of his backup or get him inside a steel cage. So, will we see another Dominic Mysterio vs. AJ Styles classic, and if yes, when? Only time will tell…
