Emanuel Sharp was one of the key figures in the Cougars’ comeback in the NCAA’s Final Four game against the Blue Devils. He is just one win away to etch his name into the basketball history books.
The third-year guard helped Houston to reach the national final for the first time since 1984. Sharp scored nine points in the final two minutes including a three-pointer to bring Houston within one possession over Duke. He helped his team to a conference title in the 2025 Big 12 men’s basketball tournament where he was named the tournament’s most outstanding player.
Sharp was also a leading performer for Houston’s second-round win in March Madness this year with a career-high 30 points. Following an average of 12.7 points during the regular season, Sharp averaged 13.8 points per game during the March Madness tournament.

Derrick Sharp and Justine Ellison are Emanuel Sharp’s parents. He has three brothers, Gabriel, Noah and Derrick Jr., and a sister, Maya. His family has Canadian roots as Emanuel’s mother belongs to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Emanuel Sharp’s mother is Justine Ellison. She has been a good supporter of Emanuel and was also a baller. She won the National University Women’s Athlete of the Year award in 1995-96. She was also inducted into the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Hall of Fame in 2009. She played for a decade in Israel and her love story was formed there.

Emanuel’s father is Derrick Sharp, who is also a basketball player. He finished his career as a Maccabi Tel Aviv legend. He won 13 national championships in his 16-year stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He is known for a game-tying buzzer-beater in the 2004 EuroLeague playoffs. He was part of 2005’s Maccabi Tel Aviv who stunned NBA’s Toronto Raptors in a preseason game.
Joyce’s parents, Derrick Sharp and Justine Ellison have different nationalities. Derrick Sharp is an Israeli and Sharp’s mother is a native of Toronto but there is no credible information on her nationality.
