What Is Taylor Jenkins’ Coaching Record? Taylor Jenkins NBA Coaching Record With Memphis Grizzlies

Swati Bhatia

The Memphis Grizzlies have fired head coach Taylor Jenkins in a shocking decision on Friday. The Grizzlies released a statement confirming his immediate departure.

“I’m genuinely appreciate of Taylor’s contributions to this team and this city over the past six seasons,” Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, given the consistent and tangible development of our players and overall success under Taylor’s leadership. I wish Taylor the very best going forward.”

The decision comes as a big shock, considering the Grizzlies hold a 44-29 record this season and currently sit fifth in the Western Conference, with just nine games remaining.

Why Taylor Jenkins Was Fired?

It is not yet clear why Grizzlies took the drastic step just weeks before the playoffs. However, Grizzlies’ struggle since the All-Star break could have played a part in it. The Memphis franchise is 8-11 since the All-Star break, losing four of their last five games, all by double digits.

Jenkins, who took the charge of Grizzlies in June 2019, is the winningest coach in franchise’s history. Under Jenkins, Memphis became a consistent playoff team, making three postseason appearances and recording back-to-back 50-win seasons.
