Lionel Messi got a standing ovation from the home crowd after Miami's 3-1 win.
Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami comfortably beat Sporting KC in the second-leg encounter of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The Argentine was on the scoresheet in Miami’s 3-1 win over Kansas City on Tuesday night. Javier Mascherano’s troops have advanced to the next round of the Champions Cup with a 4-1 aggregate success.
Lionel Messi scored the opening goal for Miami in the 19th minute. Luiz Suarez sent him a looping cross and the Argentine found the net with a classic volley. The Miami captain now has two goals and two assists in three official games this season.

Lionel Messi was the only difference between Inter Miami and Sporting KC. The 27-year-old scored a decisive goal in the away leg and added one more in the home leg. The early 2-0 aggregate advantage helped Miami to control the game and Sporting KC didn’t recover throughout the game.

Cavalier SC will face Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round-of-16. The first leg will be in Florida on March 5, with the second leg in Kingston on March 13.
