For Sinner, who had held the top ranking for 65 consecutive weeks since June 2024, the defeat marked the end of a notable reign, which was the fourth-longest ever. Alcaraz’s victory secured his second US Open title and sixth overall. He is currently the only active player trailing Novak Djokovic with the most Grand Slams won. With the return to world No. 1, Alcaraz is positioned to set the pace in men’s tennis and remain a central figure for the remainder of 2025.
