The Miami Dolphins’ 2025 season got off to a nightmare start with a humiliating 33-8 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts on September 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium, which was arguably the worst performance out of any other games so far. What was expected to be a offensive showdown quickly changes, as the Dolphins managed just 8 points and failed to score until garbage time in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had a bad game, completing only 14 of 23 passes for 114 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while also losing a fumble. The turnovers were disastrous to say the least, as back-to-back miscues with two interceptions, allowed the Colts to have a sizeable lead. Tyreek Hill and Jayden Waddle combined for just 70 yards.
In the postgame press conference, when a reporter pressed Tagovailoa on his turnover-prone game, asking why his mistakes happened. Tagovailoa, visibly upset, fired back without hesitation.
“I wouldn’t say I am pressing,” he said. “It’s a part of the game. Like, you obviously don’t want to turn it over. I thought that was a wild comment. That I turn the ball over in bunches?” That is crazy. It just so happened that is what happened today. It was what it was. You’ve got to move forward from that. Can’t make the same mistakes and move on from that.”
Despite the defensiveness, Tagovailoa took some accountability, emphasizing the need for the team to “look in the mirror” and improve collectively, starting with himself. However, according to reports, Tua has had multiple games where he’s committed more that one turnover, which means the reporter was right to say “in bunches.” As the Dolphins host the Patriots in Week 2, all eyes will be on whether Tagovailoa can shake off the rust and silence the critics.
I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
