Top NBA Prospect Alijah Arenas Tears Meniscus, Months After Escaping Burning Tesla Car Crash

USC Trojans freshman Alijah Arenas suffers a torn meniscus

Alijah Arenas, who committed to play for the USC Trojan in his freshman college year, has suffered a huge setback ahead of the new season. The guard was predicted to also become a number one NBA Draft pick in the next edition due to sheer talent and potential.

That trajectory has now been derailed as Arenas suffered a torn meniscus. This could keep him out of action for the entire season, that would result in a complete washout of his freshman year.

Arenas, who came into the USC program from the Chatsworth High School in California as a five-star recruit, is expected to be out for a six to eight-month period. He will undergo surgery, followed by an extended rehabilitation program lasting several months.

USC Coach Eric Musselman said, “Alijah is a tremendous worker, teammate, competitor, and person. He is understandably disappointed that he will not be able to take the court to start the season, but his health is our No. 1 priority. We have no doubt that he will come back even stronger. We look forward to supporting him during this process.”

If Alijah Arenas recovers in six months time, he will be ready to hit the court right before the NCAA tournament. This remains the best-case scenario, but his return depends on how well he responds to surgery and rehab.

Back-to-back Setbacks Challenge Arenas’ Resolve

Alijah Arenas was also involved in a horrific car crash just months ago. While driving a Tesla Cyber Truck, the youngster lost control, and he was saved by the bystanders, who took him out just in time when the car caught fire. He was placed in a medically induced coma due to smoke inhalation.

The son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas just completed a physical and mental recovery from the incident, and now another setback has occurred. With focused recovery, he can return to the court just in time to impress NBA scouts.

I cover NBA at the Playoffs. I specialize in covering breaking news, Previews, in-depth analysis (breaking down numbers, complex stats, nuances of the game, and converting them into reader-friendly content). Furthermore, I got into the sports media while looking for an entry into the media industry. I love International Relations, and since entry without majoring in the subject was difficult, I got into sports. Now, while majoring in International Relations on one side, I also like covering sports as part of the journey as a young Journalist.
