Toraya Reid was fatally shot in New Jersey on Saturday. According to the Ocean County Prosecutor‘s Office, the crime took place on Saturday morning at the Paragon apartment complex and the perpetrator was Shaquille Green, a 29-year-old man who had a “romantic relationship” with Toraya. She was 28 years old and was the sister of Naz Reid, one of the main players of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

What Happened in New Jersey on Sunday? What Naz Reid’s Family Say on This Murder?

According to the indictment, police arrived at the apartment complex around 11 a.m. and found Reid unconscious, having suffered “multiple gunshot wounds.” Police also found Shaquille Green running on a nearby street. He was arrested without resistance and is now being held on murder charges.

“Green was taken into custody without incident and transported to Jackson Township Police Headquarters,” the prosecutor’s office wrote in the press release.

Naz Reid’s other sister, Jakahya Reid, commented on her Facebook page that Green is a “coward” and that Green’s family should never have to go through the pain he is experiencing. However, Naz Reid and the Timberwolves have yet to publicly comment on the matter.

The power forward recently signed the first major contract of his career. He’s coming off his best season statistically in the NBA, averaging 14.2 points and 6 rebounds. He signed a five-year, $125 million contract with Minnesota. However, just weeks before the start of training camp, he lost one of his most valuable assets.

He’s entering his sixth season in the league and should remain a standout for the Wolves, who have reached the last two Western Conference Finals. As such, he’ll once again be crucial to any success the franchise can achieve in 2025-26.
