The Detroit Lions opened the 2025-26 NFL season with a tough 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers on September 7 at Lambeau Field, highlighting early struggles without their former coordinators. Ben Johnson is now with the Chicago Bears, Aaron Glenn is now coaching the New York Jets, and Dan Campbell’s team managed just 13 points on 246 yards, with Jared Goff completing 31/39 pass attempts, 1 touchdown, and an interception.
The Lions were thoroughly outmatched in their very first game of the season, and the Packers were simply too much to handle for Dan Campbell and the rest of the Lions. The absence of Johnson’s innovative schemes and Glenn’s aggressive unit led to execution errors, like multiple penalties and a fumble, allowing Green Bay to control the game.

Even though the trio of Campbell, Johnson, and Glenn aren’t together, they are surprisingly sharing an embarrassing stat together which raises concerns. Let’s find out what that is.
Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions, Aaron Glenn’s New York Jets, and Ben Johnson’s Chicago Bears have all stumbled to 0-3 record through the first three weeks of the 2025 NFL season, a stark contrast to the Lions’ dominance under the former trio. The Lions, who went went 15-2 in 2024 and reached the NFC Divisional Round, opened with a loss to the Packers (13-27). Similarly, the Chicago Bear and Ben Johnson finished their Week 1 with a loss to the Vikings (24-27), and Aaron Glenn’s Jets came close but ultimately ended up losing to the Steelers (32-34).
All three head coaches failed to secure a win in their Week 1 contests, and they combined for 0-3 start. While Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn had respectable losses, Campbell ended up taking the hardest hit in Week 1.
To start with, Ben Johnson and the Bears somehow unlocked Caleb Williams’ potential and we could see why he was the number one pick last season. However, it’s the Bears’ defense that still lacks behind. For Aaron Glenn and the Jets, while they came extremely close, some crucial mistakes at the end, cost them the game. And for Dan Campbell, he will have to find creative ways to run the offense, as the Packers shut them down offensively since the opening minute.
All three coaches have some work to do heading into Week 2, and it will certainly be interesting as the Lions take on the Bears, and the Jets will play the Buffalo Bills. All eyes will be on the Lions vs Bears game as it will be the first time that Dan Campbell will face Lions’ former coordinator, Ben Johnson and the Bears.
I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
