The first day of the 2025 Summer League lived up to its hype. Rookie VJ Edgecombe set the stage on fire with 28 points and 10 rebounds. The reverberations of his open-court dunk must have been felt across the league.
On that note, the second day promises tremendous action, too. The Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers will clash in the first encounter. Then the San Antonio Spurs will clash against the Golden State Warriors. On that note, here are the available player props picks for the day.
The Spurs center, Ware, turned up big in the Miami Heat opener with 14 points, 7 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Such returns were expected from a guy who was starting for the core squad last season.
But he can do an even bigger damage. He can potentially go past the 15-point mark here while collecting 10 boards. A double-double watch against the iffy Lakers squad isn’t out of the question. So, placing a stake in him can be worthwhile.
Here is an overview of the picks:
Pick | BetMGM Odds |
Kel’el Ware: 15+ points | -275 |
Kel’el Ware: 8+ rebounds | -210 |
Dalton Knecht: 20+ points | -145 |
Dylan Harper: 15+ points | -145 |
Sophomore Dalton Knecht had a game to forget in the Summer League opener. He shot 3/13 for just 10 points. It was disappointing for someone who averaged a rookie-high 21.3 PPG in the last Summer League.
Plus, he is more experienced than many players in his roster, having averaged a respectable 9.1 PPG. Thus, I will expect him to bounce back in a big with a 20-point performance.
Bronny James was a late omission from the Lakers’ SL opener. He is one of the hottest picks out there considering his name recognition. The guard also improved his play in a big way.
He averaged just 5.8 PPG in the last summer league. But he had a terrific 18.6 PPG in the G-League stint with the Lakers’ affiliate. Thus, there are big expectations from him. I believe he will be able to get past 15 points here.
The #2 pick in the 2025 draft, Harper also missed his Summer League opener for the Spurs. Harper comes into the Summer League with high expectations. The Spurs combo guard tallied 19.4 PPG during his lone season with Rutgers.
There are some concerns about his shooting as he made 1.7 triples per game on just 33.3%. But he can overcome that with his springy hops and well-rounded game. I’d expect to cross the 15-point mark.

Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
