The NBA Summer League has brought nonstop hoops action. It is a great recharge to stave off the NBA blues during the break. Perhaps the best part is following the superstars of tomorrow.
In this case, the Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder as #3 pick VJ Edgecombe will be in action again. Here are my preferred selections for the game.
The 76ers began their SL campaign in a mixed way. Their rookie VJ Edgecombe exploded for 28 points, but the team fell short 89-93. Three-point shooting was a huge factor as the Jazz outshot the 13-4 from deep.
The deep-range struggles were expected but the team needs to do better on perimeter defense.
On the other hand, the Thunder also lost 80-92 against the Memphis Grizzlies. Thus, they had an even worse performance. Ajay Mitchell had a spectacular 24-point performance while Nikola Topic earned his stars with 14 points.
But that was it. Topic committed 7 turnovers and the Thunder accumulated 23 turnovers, leading to their fall.
The bookmakers expect the 76ers to win this game, owing to Edegecombe’s heroics. However, I’d back the Thunder to get the job done.
Money Line Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder for +115 at BetMGM
Pick | BetMGM Odds |
ML- Thunder | +115 |
VJ Edgecombe O 6.5 Rebounds | +110 |
Nikola Topic O 15.5 Points | -130 |
VJ Edgecombe props: The #3 pick was all over the floor in his SL debut. He compiled 28 points in addition to 10 rebounds. The bookmakers expect another huge performance from here. As for me, I’d prefer to go for the “Over” on rebounds here after his opener outing.
VJ Edgecombe 6+ Rebounds: +110
Nikola Topic props: Topic scored 14 points in his OKC Thunder SL debut. Topic was selected at #12 by the Thunder last season. He spent last season in Serbian Basketball/EuroLeague, but injuries hampered his progress.
It showed in the last game as he committed 7 turnovers. However, I expect him to turn up with a 14+ points performance here.

Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
