Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani once again ?
Who are the favorites for the MLB MVP Title in 2025? Can Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani defend their crown?
Discover the latest odds for the American League and National League MVP race.
The 2025 MLB season kicked off on Tuesday, March 18, with the Tokyo Series between the Dodgers and the Cubs.
Before the official Opening Day scheduled for March 27, Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge are unsurprisingly the top favorites among bookmakers to reclaim the MVP title.
However, the competition will be fierce once again this year, with players like Bobby Witt Jr. and the newest addition to the New York Mets, Juan Soto, also in the mix.
Here’s an overview of the latest odds for the 2025 MLB MVP award.
Aaron Judge (+310) – The Bronx Bomber
Judge is coming off yet another ridiculous season—58 home runs, 144 RBIs, and an absurd 1.159 OPS. He was unanimously named AL MVP in 2024, and there’s no reason to think he won’t be right back in the mix in 2025.
If he stays healthy (which is always a bit of a concern), it’s hard to see anyone putting up better power numbers than Judge. The Yankees’ offense runs through him, and if they’re a playoff team, he’ll be right at the top of the MVP discussion.
Bobby Witt Jr. (+450) – The Future of Baseball
If you’re looking for a young superstar who could explode in 2025, Bobby Witt Jr. is your guy. He led the league in batting average last season (.332) and racked up 211 hits. He’s got the speed, the power, and the glove to be a legit MVP threat.
The Royals might not be a powerhouse, but if Witt Jr. puts up another monster year, voters won’t be able to ignore him.
Gunnar Henderson (+750) – Baltimore’s Breakout Star
Henderson has quickly become the guy for the Orioles, and his 2024 season proved he’s a force to be reckoned with. If Baltimore makes a deep playoff push and Henderson is leading the charge, don’t be surprised if he sneaks into the MVP conversation.
Yordan Alvarez (+600) – The AL’s Most Dangerous Hitter
When it comes to pure power, there aren’t many hitters more terrifying than Yordan Alvarez. He can take any pitcher deep at any time. If he stays healthy and puts up 40+ homers while carrying the Astros’ offense, he’ll be right there in the mix for MVP.

Shohei Ohtani (+1500) – The Unicorn
At this point, what else can we say about Shohei Ohtani? The guy is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. After an insane 2024 season where he led the Dodgers to a World Series title without even pitching, Ohtani is ready to take things up a notch.
The plan is for him to return to the mound in May, which means we could be looking at peak two-way Ohtani again. If he puts up elite hitting numbers and delivers as a pitcher, it’s going to be really tough for anyone else to steal this award from him.
His first appearance with the Dodgers in the Tokyo Series seems to confirm his excellent form. Going 2-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored, he was the driving force behind the Dodgers’ 4-1 victory.
Juan Soto (+550) – The Mets’ New Superstar
Big players. Big contracts. Big expectations. That’s exactly what Juan Soto is walking into after signing a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets.
Soto had a monster year in 2024, smashing 41 home runs and driving in 109 RBIs for the Yankees. If he carries that same firepower across town to Queens and helps the Mets become a legit contender, his MVP case will be undeniable.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (+800) – The Wild Card
Tatis Jr. has all the tools—power, speed, defense. If he can stay on the field and avoid any off-field drama, he’s got MVP potential written all over him. The Padres will need him to be at his best if they want to make noise in the NL West.
Mookie Betts (+1100) – The Reliable Star
Mookie might not be the flashiest name in the MVP race, but year after year, he just produces. The Dodgers are loaded, which means Betts might not stand out as much, but don’t count him out if he puts up another 30-homer, 100-RBI season.
Ohtani and Judge are the safe picks, and honestly, they should be the favorites. But baseball is unpredictable—just one injury or a breakout season from a young star can completely change the MVP race.
If you’re looking for value, Bobby Witt Jr. (+450) in the AL and Juan Soto (+550) in the NL could be great bets. But no matter what happens, one thing’s for sure: this year’s MVP race is going to be must-watch baseball.
