On Sunday, August 28, the Minnesota Lynx (30-7) will host the Seattle Storm (20-19) in a WNBA regular-season match-up.
The Lynx continued their superb touch in their latest triumph. They thumped the Indiana Fever 97-84 as Napheesa Collier put up 32 points after a 10-game injury-related absence.
It was their second straight win, and Minnesota has furthered its grip on the 1st spot.
On the other hand, the Seattle Storm suffered a familiar collapse. They lost 75-95 despite a 17-point performance by Nneka Ogwumike as the team was outrebounded 21-42.
The Storm remains stuck at the eighth position.
Can the Storm stand any chance against the Lynx? Check the predictions related to player props, total, and spread here.
Seattle Storm
The Storm once again couldn’t win more than three games in a row. Their persistent issues put their chances of a deep playoff run into doubt. Talk about underachieving. Here are some facts about them:
Storm Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Skylar Diggins | SG: Brittney Sykes | SF: Gabby Williams | PF: Nneka Ogwumike | C: Ezi Magbebor.
Key bench players: PG: Erica Wheeler, C: Dominique Malonga
Injuries/Updates: Katie Lou-Samuelson is OUT.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx has been the best of the best this season. They are hungry for the 2025 title after missing out last year.
The addition of DiJonai Carrington has made them even more lethal. Here are some stats about them:
Lynx Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Courtney Williams | SG: Kayla McBride | SF: Bridget Carleton | PF: Napheesa Collier | C: Alanna Smith
Key bench players: PF: Jessica Shepard, PF: Maria Kliundikova, PG: Natisha Hiedeman.
Injuries/Updates: All fit and fine at the time of writing.
The Lynx has scored 90+ in the last two games. They have been an efficient offensive team and can score at least 85+ on numerous occasions. Defensively, Minnesota has restricted opponents to below 80 on many instances.
Meanwhile, the Storm has been inconsistent on both ends. Thus, it is difficult to judge which version of them will show up.
At any rate, I see a high scorer in this case.
Total: Over 163.5 for -110 at BetMGM
Here is an overview of my selections
Picks | BetMGM Odds |
Total O 163.5 | -110 |
Spread- Lynx -7.5 | -110 |
Napheesa Collier O 22.5 Points | TBD |
Money Line- Lynx | -325 |
Napheesa Collier O 23.5 Points: MVP candidate Collier is averaging 23.9 PPG in 27 games. Collier scored 32 in the last game, and I see her following it with a 25+ points effort.
Nneka Ogwumike O 17.5 Points: Ogwumike has been the only reliable scoring option for the Storm throughout the year. She has tallied 18.3 PPG on a 52.1% clip.
She has scored 21 or more in four of the last seven games. I see her scoring at least 18 again.
Courtney Williams O 5.5 Assists: Williams is having another stellar playmaking season. She has tallied 6.2 APG, dishing at least 7 in half of the last six games. I believe she will gather at least 6 dimes here.
Main pick: Napheesa Collier O 23.5 Points at BetMGM
The Lynx is cruising throughout the season. They have only lost once at home thus far and are once again at their best with Collier back in the mix.
On the other hand, the Storm has been one of the most unreliable teams. Their inability to win against strong teams can haunt them in the playoffs if they make it.
Overall, I see the Lynx covering the spread considering their brilliant form.
