On Monday, September 1, the Minnesota Lynx (31-8) will host the Dallas Wings (9-31) in a WNBA regular-season match-up.
The Lynx will enter the game after an emphatic 94-70 win against the Connecticut Sun team. It was a balanced effort as five players scored in the 15-18 range.
The Lynx has sealed the top spot in the standings.
On the other hand, the Wings will come into this game after an embarrassing 78-100 loss against the Atlanta Dream. Maddy Siegrist led with 23 points while Paige Bueckers dished 10 assists.
The Wings are dead last in the standings.
Will the Lynx make mincemeat out of the Wings again? Check the predictions related to player props, total, and spread here.
Dallas Wings
The Wings keep touching new lows each day. Their defense is abysmal and the offense is largely dependent upon Paige Bueckers.
In a positive, there is a strong foundation with Bueckers and Maddy Siegrist emerging as a strong scoring option. Here are some facts about them:
Wings Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Paige Bueckers | SG: Grace Berger | SF: Maddy Siegrist | SF: Diamond Miller | PF/C: Myisha Hines-Allen
Key bench players: SG: Amy Okonkwo, SG: Aziaha James, SG: Christyn Williams
Injuries/Updates: Paige Bueckers is PROBABLE. Aziaha James, Haley Jones is OUT. JJ Quinerly, Arike Ogunbowale, Luisa Giselsoder, and Li Yueru are OUT.
Minnesota Lynx
Minnesota is going through its leanest period, and is 3-3 over the last six games. But they are bona fide 1st seed and such downturns should happen before the playoffs.
The Lynx remain title favorites. Here are some stats about them:
Lynx Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Courtney Williams | SG: Kayla McBride | SF: Bridget Carleton | PF: Napheesa Collier | C: Alanna Smith
Key bench players: PF: Jessica Shepard, PF: Maria Kliundikova, PG: Natisha Hiedeman.
Injuries/Updates: All fit and fine at the time of writing.
The Lynx is one of the top-scoring teams. They have scored 90+ in three of the last four games. Their defense has been top-notch, usually restricting teams to below 80.
On the other hand, the Wings are one of the worst defenses in the league. They have conceded 90 or more in six of the last seven games.
Offensively, they have been struggling too, not matching the points given up on defense.
Overall, I see the score going “Over” here.
Total: Over 169.5 for -110 at BetMGM
Here is an overview of my selections
Picks | BetMGM Odds |
Total O 166.5 | -110 |
Spread- Wings +17.5 | -110 |
Napheesa Collier O 22.5 Points | TBD |
Money Line- Lynx | -1600 |
Napheesa Collier O 22.5 Points: Lynx MVP candidate has tallied an impressive 23.7 PPG this season. She is averaging a similar amount during her 3-game return period.
The forward has scored fewer than 20 twice in a row. I see her coming up with a 22+ performance here.
Paige Bueckers O 5.5 Assists: Bueckers has been a stellar scorer and playmaker. She has tallied 5.4 APG apart from 18.9 PPG.
The Rookie of the Year frontrunner has dished 9-10 assists in each of the last two games. I expect her to deliver at least 6 helpers here.
Courtney Williams O 13.5 Points: Williams has been a phenomenal floor general for the Lynx. She is averaging 13.9 PPG, scoring at least 14 in three straight games. I see her put up at least 15 again.
Main pick: Napheesa Collier O 22.5 Points at BetMGM
The Lynx aren’t playing their best ball, but they know when to get the job done. On the other hand, the Wings haven’t played all season long.
They have won just one game in more than a month. In that period, they have both suffered blowouts and lost close games.
Bueckers has kept them in striking distance, but she is also feeling fatigued now. At any rate, these factors clearly imply a Lynx win. I see them winning big, but a spread of more than 17 sounds a lot.
I believe the Wings will cover the spread but will still lose by at least 10 points.
Spread/Money Line Pick: Wings +17.5 for -110 at BetMGM

I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
