Minnesota Wild seal the deal on one of the most popular prospects of the 2025-2026 season who was able to make an important breakthrough last year with his best NHL season.
Marco Rossi and Minnesota Wild came to an agreement about his contract earlier this week. The pair agreed to a three-year deal worth $15 million, averaging out at $5 million a year. Rossi enjoyed a lot of success in the past season. He scored a career best of 24 goals and 60 points last season.
Rossi went on to score 3 goals in 6 Stanley Cup Playoffs games in 2024-2025 season. He was a part of multiple rumors and stories revolving around his trade. Marco Rossi was among the favorite restricted agents of the 2025-2026 season. Throughout this summer, experts linked to various teams, from Seattle Krakens to the Vancouver Canucks.

Reportedly, a story surfaced in June regarding his trade. The Vancouver Canucks were willing to trade the 15th overall pick from the 2025 NHL draft to Wild in favour of trading Rossi. The Minnesota Wild GM, Bill Guerin finally rejected the deal and signed Rossi last Friday.
Marco Rossi was drafted by the Minnesota Wild as the no.9 overall pick in the 2020 NHL draft. At that time, he was the second highest Austrian player in the NHL draft. Since then, Rossi has been consistently performing for the Wild, claiming 101 points in 185 games he has played so far.
Minnesota Wild have been to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 11 out of the 13 seasons in the past. Unfortunately for them, they are unable to push past the first round of Playoffs since 2015. They lost to the Vegas Golden Knights last season in six games in the first round of the Western Conference. Their first game will take place on October 9 against the St. Louis Blues.

Talking about his contract extension, the man in spotlight, Marco Rossi says-
“It feels good now,. It was a good summer, I could train a lot, but in the back of your head you know your contract is up and you always hear the talks from your agent and everything. I just tried to control what I can control and that was training and everything. But I feel good now and can’t wait to go back to Minny and see the boys.”
Minnesota GM Bill Guerin appreciates Rossi’s steady progress in his official statement. He was rather understanding towards the difficulties Rossi faced during COVID. Additionally, GM Guerin has full belief that a three-year contract extension will help Rossi find his feet in NHL and become a dependable player for the Wild.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
