Top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend will look to spoil the party against Leylah Fernandez and Venus Williams in the 2025 US Open quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Canadian-American wildcard entrants have been the talking point of the women’s doubles draw. On the other hand, Siniakova and Townsend remain the pair to beat this fortnight. Which American will advance to the final four stage with their partner? Follow The Playoffs News and BetMGM to keep up with the US Open.
It will be an inter-generational battle on Tuesday, when Louis Armstrong Stadium witnesses two of their American doubles legends going toe-to-toe. Siniakova and Townsend have won two Grand Slams as a pair, and also have two tour-level trophies together in 2025. What makes them so deadly, is the fact that both of them are equally potent from the baseline and at the net. They are fearless when it comes to crossing over and putting their bodies on the line in order to finish rallies.
Only a few days ago, 45-year-old Venus Williams came in support of Townsend after her controversial match against Ostapenko. The 14-time Grand Slam doubles champion has formed a dream combination with 22-year-old Canadian Leylah Fernandez. The southpaw is a former US Open singles runner-up, and is gunning for glory in women’s doubles. Reiterating that they are not overly focused on tactics but rather on enjoying the moment, Williams and Fernandez will be determined to overcome the odds on Tuesday.

Although Williams and Fernandez have already punched above their weight, it seems like this is an obstacle that is too high to climb. The Siniakova/Townsend duo pounced on any half chances at the net, and does not offer time on the ball to dictate play. They also use the wide serve from the ad court, making it difficult for opponents to place the ball back to the baseline. The wildcards will need to pull off an attacking masterclass and rely on the crowd to pull them over the line.
Prediction: Siniakova/Townsend in straight sets.
