The greatest rivalry that the sport has to offer by a distance, Jannik Sinner and Carlos have already scripted several illustrious chapters in tennis history. Having met in the Cincinnati Open final merely three weeks ago, Sinner’s retirement was a warning that something bigger was brewing. Currently in the form of their lives, the duo will meet for the third consecutive Grand Slam final. While Alcaraz retained his crown at Roland Garros, Sinner dethroned him at the Wimbledon Championships.

Top seed Jannik Sinner is on a 27-match winning run in hard court Grand Slams, and has won 71 out of 75 matches on this surface since last year. The 24-year-old Italian is aiming to become the first man since Roger Federer between 2004 and 2008, to retain the championship at Flushing Meadows. Heading into this match with a winning ratio of 90% this year, Sinner will look to exact revenge for the Cincinnati Masters final which was cut short. He has beaten Kopriva, Popyrin, Shapovalov, Bublik, Musetti and Auger-Aliassime en route to the marquee clash.

Against Djokovic, the Spaniard was able to engage in gruesome rallies and change direction with aplomb. According to the 24-time Grand Slam champion’s own admissions, Alcaraz showed no signs of gassing out. Meanwhile, Sinner has shown signs of niggles as well as fatigue. While he can outhit most opposition on the ATP Tour, Alcaraz is different gravy.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.
