Can the Italian defend his crown at the Big Apple?

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is back to his ruthless best at the 2025 US Open. After a heartbreaking end to his title defense in Cincinnati, the Italian sensation entered the final major of the year with fire in his eyes. Despite facing minor glitches against Denis Shapovalov in Round-3 and Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semis, Sinner has returned to his dominant self. He will take on Carlos Alcaraz in the summit clash on Sunday, with his World No. 1 ranking on the line.

Jannik Sinner’s path to the final has included Vit Kopriva, Alexei Popyrin, Denis Shapovalov, Alexander Bublik, Lorenzo Musetti and Felix Auger-Aliassime. The 24-year-old top seed has dropped two sets en route to this stage so far. Apart from his massive fan base, Jannik Sinner receives the unwavering support of his team members who are seated in his box. Want to know more about them? Look no further.

Coaching Team and Support Staff of Jannik Sinner

While Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi are the head coaches of Jannik Sinner, Cahill wasn’t initially meant to be accompanying the Italian to New York. Before the tournament, Vagnozzi announced that the 59-year-old will be taking a short break. Yet, the Australian showed up to help power Sinner through. Along with the duo, fitness coach Umberto Ferrara will also be part of the box. Although Ferrara was excluded from the four-time Grand Slam champion’s team after his doping scandal, he was rehired as Sinner felt Ferrara “learned from his mistakes.”

Alpine Ski Racer Lindsey Vonn in Jannik Sinner’s Box at US Open 2025 Final

Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn is also in Jannik Sinner’s box at the 2025 US Open final vs Alcaraz. The 40-year-old is an eight-time medalist at the World Championships, and one of just six women to win World Cup races in all five alpine skiing disciplines. Having known Sinner – who is a former professional skier – for a few years now, she decided to make an appearance in New York.

”I always thought it was really special that he was a former ski racer and that’s obviously where we connected,” she said in a 2024 interview. “He’s a pretty shy guy, but he’s really humble and always super kind. I think he has a great perspective on the sport, and that sort of comes from skiing.”

Family – Parents & Siblings

Jannik Sinner’s mother Siglinde and father Johann often support their son in the box. The couple runs their own guest house – Haus Sinner – where Johann primarily helps out. Additionally, Sinner also has an elder brother named Marc. He was born in Russia and adopted by the Sinner household when he was around nine months old. Originally a fire brigade instructor in South Tyrol, Marc has also been extremely encouraging throughout Sinner’s career.

“They are always working and that’s what I love about them,” Sinner said about his family in a 2024 interview. “They’re not changing anything with me.” Due to this very reason, Sinner’s father Johann missed the 2025 Roland Garros final where the Italian powerhouse lost in heartbreaking fashion. However, he was in attendance when Sinner became the first Italian man to win Wimbledon.

Will Jannik Sinner pull off a massive achievement by retaining his US Open championship? Or will his Spanish rival ruin his hopes by slaying the reigning emperor of New York? We’ll find out soon!
