Despite a season filled with injuries, the Fever set franchise records
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever dominated WNBA storyboard throughout the 2025 season, even as Clark’s year was cut short by injury. Despite the 23-year-old guard playing just 13 games due to a groin issue, the Fever ended the regular season not only in the playoff picture but also as the league’s most popular team.
The season was marked by setbacks, with multiple Fever players lost to long-term injuries. At times, it proved difficult for the team to put forth a fully healthy roster.
Still, the Indiana Fever closed the regular season with a 24-20 record, the most wins in franchise history. That record secured at least the No. 7 playoff seed, with the exact placement dependent on the final slate of league games.

Clark’s absence late in the season did not slow the surge of interest around the Fever. Attendance Data confirmed what had already been clear all year, the team had become the WNBA’s biggest draw.
Indiana Fever led the league in combined home and road attendance, drawing nearly 700,000 fans in total. That figure was roughly 100,000 higher than any other team, further proof of the Fever’s pull.
The league as a whole benefited from the momentum. The WNBA surpassed three million attendees for the season, an average of 10,954 fans per game. If that number holds through the final games, it will stand as a new single-season record for the league.
While some of the increase can be attributed to the expanded 44-game regular-season format, league officials and observers have pointed to Caitlin Clark’s arrival as a defining factor. Even though she missed 31 games, her influence on attendance remained strong.
Opponents frequently shifted their Fever matchups into larger arenas to handle the demand created by Clark’s traveling fan base. The Fever now move into the postseason without their biggest star, but with momentum off the court and a historic year already secured.
I cover NBA at the Playoffs. I specialize in covering breaking news, Previews, in-depth analysis (breaking down numbers, complex stats, nuances of the game, and converting them into reader-friendly content). Furthermore, I got into the sports media while looking for an entry into the media industry. I love International Relations, and since entry without majoring in the subject was difficult, I got into sports. Now, while majoring in International Relations on one side, I also like covering sports as part of the journey as a young Journalist.
