This former Formula 1 veteran believes that Ferrari's driver dynamics are going to change soon.
The start of the 2025 season brought forth a big question in the Ferrari camp. The Prancing Horses were going to work with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in the 2025 season. Both drivers have been number one drivers in their teams for the past seasons. Although, luckily Charles Leclerc managed to trump Lewis Hamilton from the very first race.
While Hamilton is trying to come to terms with SF25 in the 2025 season. Charles Leclerc is already looking forward to claiming the first win for Scuderia Ferrari. While the 2025 season has been rather positive for Leclerc compared to his teammate, Hamilton is slowly but surely adapting to the car. There were weekends where Hamilton showed considerably better than Charles Leclerc. Although the Briton was never able to convert to Grand Prix progress, he is still trying to get the best out of the car.
Lewis Hamilton was the golden boy at Mercedes. Throughout his tenure with the Silver Arrows, Hamilton was treated as the number one driver of the team. The car was setup to favor him and the team revolved around his success.
Although the Briton is unable to claim similar success in Ferrari, former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya is in his favor. Charles Leclerc may have outperformed Hamilton majority of this season. Montoya still believes that once Ferrari starts adapting the car to Lewis, Leclerc will be left behind.

Charles Leclerc’s entry to Ferrari was marked with immediate success. Throughout his tenure at the Maranello team, Leclerc beat Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz. His rapid success translated to 2025, where is he performing much better than Hamilton.
According to Juan Pablo Montoya,
“I think as Ferrari adjusts the car more to Lewis’s style, and he gets comfortable, life will get harder for Charles.”
Montoya’s words echo a strong premonition of Hamilton’s previous skirmishes with teammates. He was able to completely overpower both Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes. Only George Russell was able to keep up or seldom outperform Lewis at the Silver Arrows.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
