Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher addresses Lance Stroll and his disappointing performance urging Stroll Sr. to replace him.
Aston Martin had a successful weekend in Hungary. They were led by Alonso and Stroll to the most points they earned in a single Grand Prix this year. The team was able to successfully comeback after a huge shunt in the earlier half of the season. From the first race itself, Aston Martin F1 have been facing numerous difficulties in their Grand Prix campaign.
At first, they were unable to score points from Fernando Alonso because of his unlucky streak of retirements. After Alonso was finally able to bring consistent results, the team lost all of their pace and fell back in the midfield. The performance from Aston Martin in 2025 is a stark contrast to their podium winning campaign in 2023. At one point, people were expecting Alonso to announce his retirement owing to Aston Martin’s unsuccessful races.
Lawrence Stroll has a clear goal ahead of himself regarding his team. Aston Martin F1 is a team which is aiming to win titles in Formula 1. When it comes to money, Stroll Sr. has left no stone unturned. He was also able to bring Adrian Newey to his side.
Adrian Newey is the co-owner of Aston Martin F1 and the head of their technological department. Newey is a formidable Formula 1 engineer known for his prowess in designing championship winning cars. Nevertheless, Adrian Newey’s design will make its debut in the 2026 Formula 1 season.
Aston Martin’s underlying issues also stem from the fact that they do not have a reliable second driver. Lance Stroll is constantly beat by his teammates. Stroll is unable to bring better results than Fernando Alonso. According to Ralf Schumacher, the best course of action for Aston Martin is going to be the removal of Lance Stroll.
“If he really wants to become world champion, he has to dismiss his son. Lance’s 27-0 defeat in qualifying against his teammate Fernando Alonso says it all. The father has to decide: feeling or success. If he is serious, he will have to completely rethink the driver pairing for 2026. I think he knows that, but the decision is difficult for him.”
Lawrence Stroll has not answered any criticism about his son as of late. Lance Stroll’s position in the team has been questioned one too many times. There were some flashes of brilliance from Stroll Jr. but they are not enough to answer his repeated disappointment during the seasons.
