Christian Eriksen has finally ended months of speculation over his future at Manchester United. He has signed for Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer. The 33-year-old Denmark Midfielder departed Manchester United at the end of last season. Eriksen has now agreed to a contract until 2027.
Eriksen will wear the No. 24 shirt at Wolfsburg. He described the move as the start of an exciting new challenge. He said, “VfL Wolfsburg is my first club in the Bundesliga – I’m really looking forward to this new adventure. I’m convinced we can achieve something together at Wolfsburg.”

He added, “The talks with the club bosses went very well. I immediately sensed that Paul Simonis has a clear vision for the team and for me personally. The fact that there are several familiar faces in the squad from the Danish national team makes VfL a particularly attractive proposition for me.”
Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz also hailed the signing, saying, “In Christian Eriksen, we’re getting a player who has seen and experienced everything at the highest level. His enormous experience, his quality on the pitch, and his personality will be a valuable boost to our young players in particular.”

Eriksen’s departure from Manchester United was confirmed in May. He was announced to depart alongside Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans. Although Wrexham reportedly made an approach, the Dane waited until September to finalize his next move.
During the summer, he trained with Swedish club Malmo FF to maintain fitness. His patience has now paid off, with Wolfsburg securing one of the most experienced free agents in Europe. The Bundesliga becomes the third of the “big five” leagues in which Eriksen has played, after spells in England and Italy.

The midfielder’s career has spanned several big teams throughout Europe. Eriksen has played for Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Brentford and Manchester United. With them, he has amassed more than 700 senior appearances. At United, he played in 107 games, won the EFL Cup and FA Cup, and helped them reach the Europa League final.
