Chicago Bulls reached an agreement for the contract renewal of point guard Josh Giddey on Tuesday. After a long period of negotiations throughout the NBA offseason, the Australian signed a four-year, $100 million extension, committing his future to the franchise until the end of the 2028-29 season. Initially, Shams Charania, from American ESPN, anticipated the information.

According to recent reports, Giddey was seeking an annual salary in the region of $30 million. Now, he’s closing for $25 million. After leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, he enjoyed the best moments of his professional career playing for the Bulls. During the last season, he averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists, the latter two career highs. After the All-Star break, his performance improved even further.
Closing the campaign with an excellent performance, he had 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and shot 50% from the field and 46% from the perimeter. Despite being eliminated in the Play-In Tournament by the Miami Heat, the point guard left a strong impression.

21.2 PPG
10.7 RPG
9.3 APG
50% FG
45.7% 3PT
Only Jokic, Giannis, Luka, SGA, Tatum, Cade, Paolo averaged more PRA in that span.
The sixth pick in the 2021 Draft, the Australian played for the Thunder during his first three years in the league. After poor performances in the 2024 playoffs, Giddey turned down a backup role in Oklahoma City and was involved in the trade that sent Alex Caruso to the reigning NBA champions .
Chicago experienced a somewhat confusing 2024-25 campaign. After the last offseason, the team seemed destined to finally begin a rebuilding process, especially after the departure of DeMar DeRozan, who was traded to the Sacramento Kings via sign-and-trade.
Zach LaVine, another star on the roster, also seemed destined to leave the Bulls. And he did. But only during the trade deadline, when he also ended up in Sacramento. Despite the losses, the Illinois franchise continued to put together strong performances, largely due to the quality of its point guard duo.
Now, with Giddey’s renewal finalized, the team should turn its attention to talks with Coby White . Still 25 years old, the number 0 has become a key player on Billy Donovan’s squad, especially in attack. He is currently preparing to enter the final season of his current contract, with a salary of $12.8 million.
