Callum Hudson-Odoi fires Erling Haaland ‘stay humble’ jibe following Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win over Manchester City

Callum Hudson-Odoi, who scored the game-winner against Manchester City, took a subtle jibe at Erling Haaland.

Nottingham Forest continues living in what has been a mythical season for them this year. After beating Manchester City 1-0 on March 8, Nuno Espirito Santo and his side moved four points clear of Pep Guardiola’s team. This comes as a huge step in fulfilling their Champions League ambitions as they stand third in the table behind Arsenal.

Callum Hudson Odoi, who scored the only goal of the game, took a subtle jibe at City’s striker Erling Haaland following Forests’ win. The former Chelsea man made a “stay humble” remark in the post-game interview.

“We know the position we’re in but there are still a lot of games to go until the end of the season,” Hudson-Odoi told TNT Sports after the game.

“It’s about staying humble, driving ourselves and trying to get as many points on the board as possible.”

“Someone said that earlier in the season”

More than five months have passed since Haaland told Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to “stay humble” after their 2-2 draw in September 2024. Not only has the remark come back to haunt the Norwegian striker on multiple occasions, but Manchester City has also endured a below-par season since then.

Haaland, who has scored six Premier League goals since the start of 2025, has struggled to replicate his form from the previous two seasons. The Norwegian striker currently sits second in the Premier League Golden Boot race with 20 goals, trailing Liverpool’s Mo Salah, who leads with 27.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday marked their 15th loss in the past 30 games. With just a one-point lead over Chelsea and a two-point cushion over Newcastle, Pep Guardiola and Co. face mounting pressure to secure the Champions League spot.
