FC Barcelona Set Date for Return to Spotify Camp Nou

Ritam Dey

Barcelona fans can officially circle August 10, 2025, on their calendars—the date the club will return to Spotify Camp Nou, marking the end of a nearly two-year absence from their iconic home.

The club confirmed the news in an emotional video announcement, revealing that the Joan Gamper Trophy will be the grand reopening fixture. Hansi Flick’s Barcelona will take on Como 1907, now managed by none other than Barça legend Cesc Fàbregas, in what promises to be a symbolic and historic evening.

FC Barcelona officially announced via social media that the team will return to the Spotify Camp Nou on August 10, marking a highly anticipated homecoming for the Catalan giants.

Initially, the club was expected to make its return in September, following a series of postponed deadlines tied to the stadium’s renovation. However, plans for an earlier comeback began to take shape earlier this week, centered around the Joan Gamper Trophy, the club’s traditional curtain-raiser for the new season.

Barca legend Lionel Messi also maintained a highly prolific record at the weekend.

With the release of Wednesday’s video, it now appears those plans have either been approved or are on the verge of final confirmation, setting the stage for a symbolic and emotional night at the newly renovated Camp Nou.

Expanded Capacity for Reopening

Originally, plans were in place to reopen the stadium with a limited crowd of 25,000 due to ongoing renovation safety protocols. However, thanks to rapid construction progress, that number may now rise to around 35,000 fans for the opening match—pending final security and structural clearances.

While this is still well below the 65,000-capacity target for competitive fixtures later in the season, it represents a significant milestone in the Espai Barça project and the club’s return to its spiritual home.

Final attendance figures will be confirmed closer to the date as evaluations continue. But whether it’s 25,000 or 35,000, August 10 will mark a triumphant return to Camp Nou—a moment of joy, pride, and renewal for the Blaugrana faithful around the world.
