Andre Onana Trabzonspor Contract Details

Abhinav Goel

Andre Onana’s turbulent spell at Manchester United has taken a new twist. The Cameroonian is on the verge of completing his move to Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United. The deal is set to give the goalkeeper both a financial boost and the opportunity to relaunch his career. The 28-year-old had endured a difficult period in Manchester after joining from Inter Milan in 2023.

Despite making over 100 appearances, a string of high-profile errors saw him lose his place in the team. Andre Onana has failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the Red Devils this season. His only outing came in the League Cup, where his mistakes proved costly in United’s early exit.

Andre Onana Trabzonspor Contract Details

Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor will cover Andre Onana’s full wages and even provide him additional signing-on fees and bonuses. As a result, it would see the Cameroonian almost double his salary compared to what he earned at Old Trafford. At United, Onana was on a base pay of around £120,000 per week, but that figure was cut by 25% after the club missed out on European football.

Trabzonspor’s package not only restores his full earnings but adds lucrative performance-based bonuses. It will ensure that Andre Onana earns significantly more during his spell in Turkey. Importantly, the loan does not include a transfer fee or an option to buy, meaning he is expected to return to Manchester United next summer.

With Man United signing Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for £18m on deadline day, Onana’s future was effectively sealed. Trabzonspor, currently second in the Turkish Super Lig, stepped in to secure his services, offering him a fresh start.

For Onana, the move carries extra importance beyond club football. He is determined to feature regularly ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in December and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where Cameroon are pushing for a direct spot. Playing consistently at Trabzonspor will help him stay sharp and maintain his role in the national setup.
