Filipino prodigy is looking for her maiden tour-level title.
Filipino prodigy Alexandra Eala will battle French starlet Yasmine Mansouri in the opening round of the 2025 WTA São Paulo Open on Tuesday. Eala is enjoying a breakthrough 2025 campaign, and will be keen on continuing her rich vein of form. On the other hand, Mansouri can ensure a rapid rise up the ranks with a good outing on Brazilian soil. Who will come out on top? Today, we will break down the clash with the help of BetMGM.
A fiery 20-year-old southpaw from Quezon City, Philippines, Alexandra Eala made headlines upon reaching the Miami Open semifinals in March. The youngster defeated the likes of Ostapenko, Keys and Swiatek en route to a career-best performance at a tour-level event. Following this, Eala had an encouraging outing at Eastbourne, where she was the runner-up. At the recently concluded US Open, she beat 14th seed Tauson in Round-1. Currently ranked No. 61 in the world, Eala won the WTA-125 series in Guadalajara before travelling to São Paulo.

Yasmine Mansouri is a five-time title holder on the ITF circuit. The 24-year-old is ranked World No. 380, and is yet to make her Grand Slam debut. Having made her tour-level main draw debut at the 2022 Jasmin Open, Mansouri will be looking to break into the Top-300 soon. She defeated two home favourites in Cruz and Pedretti during the qualifying competition without dropping a set, meaning that she will be high on confidence. Mansouri’s overall record in 2025 is 25-24 at the moment.

Owing to the fact that the WTA has returned to São Paulo after many years, players will not be fully accustomed to the conditions. The outdoor hard courts are expected to be slightly slow in nature, although the hot conditions means that Eala can trust the bounce and hit through the line. The Filipino star is high on confidence after a title charge in Mexico, and has the experience to overcome Mansouri. Expect a lot of cross-court exchanges to be dominated by Eala.
