THE NBA Summer League lights up the hoops discourse in the offseason. The joy of watching young players is felt on various social media handles. Rookies like Ace Bailey have already made big impressions.
Yesterday, Cooper Flagg’s 31-point masterpiece had fans go crazy, too. On that note, we will have an alluring eight-game slate on Sunday night. On that note, here are my three favorite player picks for the Summer League action on July 13.
Bailey missed the last game of the Utah Summer League due to a hip flexor issue. In positive news, he is most likely going to play against the Golden State Warriors. Bailey had a rough SL debut against the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring just 8 points on a terrible 23.1% shooting.
Then he bounced back in the second game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Jazz rookie swingman put up 18 points on 50% shooting. He made 3 out of 5 attempts from three-point compared to a 1/5 outing in his SL debut. He grabbed 7 rebounds on both occasions.

Here is an overview of my top selections:
Pick | FanDuel Odds |
Bailey: 15+ Points | +158 |
Bailey: 2+ Three-Pointers | +120 |
Tre Johnson: 15+ Points | -104 |
Khaman Maluach: 15+ Points | +182 |
During his Summer League debut, Tre Johnson showed why the expectations are high on him. He scored 18 points on an excellent 7/13 shooting. The long-range ball was ringing as he converted 3 of 5 attempts from deep.
He also contributed 3 rebounds and 2 assists, making a strong impact on the proceedings. I expect him to have another terrific night against the Nets.
Tre Johnson Player Props: 15+ Points for -104
Suns rookie Khaman Maluach showed off his skills in his SL debut against the Wizards. The 7’2” Center was hesitant in the initial spells but was a terrific presence in the latter parts of the game.
The rookie finished with 14 points on 5/13 shooting. His long-range shot didn’t connect much as he shot 1/6 from deep. Overall, he was a menace in the paint and can settle down as a shooter after showing nerves in his Suns SL debut.

Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
